Finpolar, in cooperation with Kannelmäen Seurakunta, brought people from diverse cultural backgrounds together at the “Monikulttuurinen Käsityö – Tapahtuma” (Multicultural Handicraft Event), creating a warm and inspiring atmosphere of creativity, dialogue and cultural exchange.
Held on 3 October 2026 at the event welcomed a large number of guests. Guided by the theme “Different cultures, around the same table – creating together!”, the programme highlighted how art and handicrafts can serve as a meaningful bridge between people and cultures.
A central part of the programme was Ebru art (Turkish marbling), which attracted considerable interest from participants. Guests had the opportunity to experience the art form firsthand and discover the unique techniques and traditions behind it. Macramé workshops and handicraft displays also formed an important part of the event, allowing participants to explore different creative practices and appreciate the value of handmade art.
Beyond the artistic activities, the event provided a welcoming space for cross-cultural dialogue, conversation and connection. Participants from different backgrounds shared their experiences, ideas and cultural traditions, creating opportunities to learn from one another and build new connections.
Tea, coffee and a selection of light refreshments were served throughout the programme, adding to the warm and friendly atmosphere. The conversations around the tables became an integral part of the event, bringing people together in an informal and welcoming setting.
At Finpolar Cultural Centre, we believe that art, creativity and handmade crafts are universal languages that bring people closer together. This event was a beautiful example of how coming together, creating together and sharing our experiences can strengthen mutual understanding and cultural dialogue.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to all our guests, volunteers and Kannelmäen Seurakunta for their valuable contribution and support in making this event possible.
We created together, shared together and inspired one another.
Finpolar Cultural Centre will continue to organise activities that bring different cultures together, encourage dialogue and create opportunities for people to connect, learn and inspire each other.
