Upcoming Seminar on Sustainable Volunteering, Dialogue, and Peace

At FinPolar Kulttuurikeskus Ry, we are thrilled to announce an upcoming seminar this June, focusing on the critical themes of sustainable volunteering, dialogue, and peace. This event aims to foster meaningful discussions and collaborations among experts, volunteers, and community leaders.

Honored Guests

We are privileged to host two esteemed guests from the United States, whose extensive experience and contributions to education and international diplomacy are invaluable to our seminar.

Professor Serif Tekalan

  • Current Role: Vice President for International Affairs at North American University, Houston, USA.
  • Notable Positions: Former President of North American University and Chairman of the International Association of Universities.
  • Academic and Professional Background: Prof. Tekalan holds an MD from Ege University School of Medicine and has an illustrious career in Otolaryngology. He has served in various academic and leadership roles, including Rector of Fatih University in Istanbul and significant positions within the Turkish Science and Technical Research Institute (TÜBİTAK).
  • Achievements: Prof. Tekalan has been awarded honorary doctorates from multiple international universities and holds memberships in numerous professional organizations.

Dr. Javaid Laghari

  • Current Role: President of the Forum for Dialogue and Diplomacy, Houston, TX.
  • Notable Positions: Former Federal Minister and Chairperson of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan.
  • Academic and Professional Background: Dr. Laghari has a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He has held key roles in academia and governmental bodies, including founding President of SZABIST in Pakistan and Commissioner at the Ministry of Education, UAE.
  • Achievements: Under Dr. Laghari’s leadership, HEC was recognized as a role model institution in higher education by the World Economic Forum. He has significantly contributed to scientific and technological cooperation among Islamic countries and has been a distinguished lecturer and keynote speaker at various international forums.

Seminar Goals

The seminar aims to:

  • Promote Sustainable Volunteering: Encouraging long-term and impactful volunteer efforts that contribute to community well-being.
  • Foster Dialogue: Creating a platform for open and constructive conversations on pressing global and local issues.
  • Advance Peace: Exploring strategies to cultivate peace within communities through education, diplomacy, and cooperation.

Proposed Visit to Ambassador Sarwar

In line with these themes, we have reached out to His Excellency Ambassador Sarwar, expressing our desire to visit and discuss these significant topics. The proposed dates for the visit are June 10-11. We hope to engage in enriching dialogues that will further our shared goals of sustainable development, intercultural dialogue, and peaceful coexistence.
